The apartment was beautifully decorated just like it is shown on the pictures. It is very spacious (we were a family of 4). We had arranged thru Volalto for a pick up at the airport but they were not there at our arrival. We managed to make arrangements with local drivers when we realized no one was there to pick us up and ended up paying $40 instead of $50. Out of all the places I saw online, I'm glad we picked this one as it was very nice and well care for. The one thing that would've been nice and an extra perk is if the beach bar would've served some quick lunch meals. I did hear that they may be working on that in the near future. There are two supermarkets within walking distance. The bartender was a new guy from Colombia? Venezuela? Who had just arrived there about 2 weeks ago. He was super enthusiastic, wanted you to have a good time and made really nice drinks. The beach area is not super big, there has been a lot of erosion; however we never had trouble getting chairs while we were there. Keep in mind this is DR, it is resort after resort after resort. Also keep in mind, DR runs in DR time. Outside of hotel there are some average restaurants and the service is super slow; so come prepare to relax and not be in a rush or too hungry ;-). The kitchen was well stock w/ the basic condiments, coffee, pots and pans. The couple of things I did not see was oil, a peeler, and salt. It would be helpful if there was a list recommending what things to bring or buy that they do not supply. They were plenty of towels. I thought Benjamin (the man who greeted us when we arrived) had mentioned that we would have a cleaning person every two days, but nobody showed up. We lost power 2x while we were there but it came back quickly and it was throughout the area. We spent approx. $60 in electricity for 5 days and we used the AC throughout our stay. The gym is also within walking distance and my teenage kids used it a couple of times. It was $5 a day or you can purchase a week/month pass. It wasn't super modern but had all the basics. We rented the condo thru the managing company but there are also owners there; the reception area was a little akward. One woman sitting at a desk seem to not be too interested in anwering questions and was more interested in taking care of the owners - not sure what her role was since she made no effort to help us when we were standing there waiting for someone to greet us. The other person at the reception can get you a cab if you need one. Since we rented thru the managing agent I'm not sure what their roles were. Lastly, we did not rent a car. I read later that we could've arranged for a cab to take us to another beach or to explore a little more but again no one offered this information when we got there. I would've like to explore a little bit outside of where we were. Allow plenty of time to get thru the airport chaos on the way home - it takes awhile. Source: Flipkey/TripAdvisor
